There's always plenty to do at Mornacott

There is lots to see and do at Mornacott and the list below shows the main activities available.

The whole Mornacott team is very proud of what has been achieved at Mornacott and we’re passionate about people enjoying and understanding the beautiful countryside.

Some of the activities attract a small charge (*) all of which goes directly to making further improvements to our countryside.

Swimming Pool and Sauna

The three cottages benefit from the use of a wonderful 13 metre indoor swimming pool (heated to a luxurious 30 degrees) and a sauna which are open throughout the year. In order to allow private use of the pool we allocate morning, mid-day and afternoon sessions to guests on a rotating basis.

Games Room

A purpose build games room complete with table tennis, pool table, table football and darts - perfect for when the weather turns or for a little family competition!

Games Field

Set on three levels to give plenty of space for a football kick-around, Jenga, lawn darts, boules and other outdoor games (provided).

Croquet

Why not try your hand at croquet in the activity area. Perfect for keeping the children amused whilst mum (or dad!) prepares supper!

Walking

There are a number of delightful local walks from Mornacott stretching from a light one mile warm up to a more serious five miles.

Fishing*

The River Yeo, which has a good head of Brown Trout and Salmon, bisects the land at Mornacott and offers some exciting fishing opportunities for those who have their own fishing gear.

Our Lake too is well stocked with some decently sized carp (up to 16lbs) for the coarse fisherman.

Clay pigeon shooting*

Our BASC qualified instructor is usually available to provide shooting lessons for beginners and experienced shots alike.

Mornacott nightlife safari*

Much enjoyed by children and adults alike this two hour adventure involves a night drive around Mornacott with our countryside guide in our specially adapted vehicle stopping to view the many night time activities of various animals... foxes, badgers, owls, deer and much more.

Deer stalking (camera)*

Exmoor is famed for magnificent Red Deer and we have a transient herd of around 100 at Mornacott.

An early morning or evening stalk with our guide and your camera usually leads to some fantastic photography.

Chickens

We have a variety of chickens here at Mornacott. From the smart Welsummer to rescued battery hens.

We’re always pleased when our guests, especially the younger ones, want to help with the feeding and, you never know, you may collect an egg or two for your breakfast as well!

Cattle

Our Ruby Red Devon cattle are the mainstay of the farming activity but at various times of the year you may meet our Aberdeen Angus cross Devon calves. We're always delighted to introduce people to them, under our direct supervision, and please call our duty manager to arrange this.
