Following a recent inspection (our first!) from Quality in Tourism, the governing body of Visit England, we are delighted to have been awarded “5 Star” gradings on Orchard Cottage and The Old Stables and a “4 Star Gold” grade for Barn Cottage further reinforcing our commitment to providing accommodation of the highest standards. With spring and summer come two full seasons of bookings and the imminent completion of our indoor swimming pool complex should add even more to the facilities on offer at Mornacott. 

Now that we’ve been spared the rain for a few days more rapid progress is being made on the swimming pool build.. The pool itself will be 13m in length by 5m wide. Being an indoor facility it will allow our guests to enjoy themselves whatever the weather. Now that all of the groundworks have been completed the stone walling and roof slating can progress at speed. Sunday Times “50 Best Cottages”

We’re delighted to have been featured in the Sunday Times “50 Best Cottages” feature this weekend. “High on the 650 acre Mornacott Estate, bordering Exmoor, it (Orchard Cottage) has views that are worth the journey alone. Mornacott’s owners let kids feed the chickens and cows, while the gamekeeper leads night safaris in search of deer and owls”. 

Despite the persistent rain this winter we are now proud to announce that our new cattle shed is fully operational. The cattle have moved in ahead of the winter storms and will remain there under the careful eye of our stockman until after calving. The shed has been built as we continue to increase our herd of pedigree Ruby Red Devons the majority now being bred and reared on the farm. So welcome home cows lets hope they all enjoy the new facilities. 

As ever the festive season at Mornacott has been busy. We welcomed guests to our holiday cottages, some of whom had travelled from very far flung places, we just hope that they weren't too disappointed with the weather! North Devon has been exceptionally wet during the festive period but fortunately we have been very lucky to escape serious damage.

Boxing Day saw our annual family game shoot and this year we were joined by some of our guests, an enjoyable day was had by all with everyone taking turns beating and shooting alternatively.

Here at Mornacott we are constantly looking to improve on the facilities that we offer to our guests and we are very excited to announce that we have recently broken ground on our new indoor pool complex. Hopefully (builders permitting) this will be up and running for the start of the new summer holiday season.We're all eagerly anticipating the completion already and are drawing straws to see who is fortunate to take the first dip!
